About Us

Yatton House is currently situated on the edge of Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.

Yatton House was started in 1981 after parents and carers had concerns that after statutory education there were no facilities available locally in the form of day care for people with a disability. After many meetings with Social Services Yatton House was born providing follow on support for school leavers. The Centre has evolved over the years providing many training courses for members and is committed to Developing the Individual.

Adults with a Learning/ Physical Disability who live in North Yorkshire or Teesside can access the service.

We provide opportunities for the Community making the best of the current Yatton House which we hope to renovate over the next two years. We continue to rent space within the building to local groups and provide a Lunch Club and Coffee Shop which is open to the Community.

We have expanded our Printing Service which is available for all your printing needs. We also make wooden items to order including bird tables/boxes, refurbish commemorative benches and sell sticks and logs for your winter and summer fires.

One of our main aims is to achieve a society in which the client group is treated as equals and to promote individuality, allowing everyone to be unique in their own right. However, this will take more than our lifetime, but by making this client groups' presence known and accepted we are laying the tracks to one of our ultimate goals.

Our second, and also as important aim, is to provide real life opportunities for this client group that incorporates four key principles of Rights, Independence, Choice and Inclusion, to provide better life chances for people with physical and learning disabilities. The members at Yatton House Society are aged between 18 - 65 with physical and/or mild.moderate learning disabilities, who are eager for changes and independence into social acceptance. We also hope to expand current capacity from 25 up to 40 places.
